What is your favorite room of the house?

What is your favorite room of the house? The kitchen? Family room? Well it may come as no surprise, but our favorite room is none other than the bedroom. One of the most important parts of your day is done in there…. SLEEP!  A bedroom is also the one place you can truly make unique to yourself, or yourself and your partner, and we think you should take full advantage of this.

Think about it, what does your bedroom look like right now? Are you happy with it? Although you may spend most of your time in this room sleeping, we strongly believe that your bedroom needs to be a peaceful and inviting place that makes you happy.

Here are some things you can do to give your bedroom that little “umph” that turns it from blah to fab!

Tip #1 Pick a theme
Designing your room is a simple way to make a place you want to be in. Your bedroom should reflect your personal style and should also emphasize your interests.  Therefore, when you pick a theme for your room design, make sure that it matches those things.  Use your favorite colors and make it simple. When painting your walls, use a cool, deep color. This will bring a peaceful vibe to your room and help you relax when you are spending time in there.

Tip #2 Sleep Tips says RELAX
If you clutter your room with random things, it will evoke stress, and stress and sleeping do NOT go well together as we already know. Your bedroom should be relaxing and inviting; when you enter this room, day or night, you want to get a sense of peace and harmony, not chaos. If you’re the type of person that tends to leave things lying around, try to designate 20 minutes a day to clear everything up. It won’t take that long and you will feel much more ready to sleep in a clean room. When your room is inviting, you are relaxed, and when you are relaxed, you sleep better!

Tip #3 NO media beyond this point
Countless amounts of people enjoy watching TV, surfing the net, or reading before bed. Even though those activities can seem to help you wind down, it isn’t ideal to do those before bed. Watching TV, surfing the net, or reading before bed will actually keep you up longer and make you more likely to wake up through the night. Now we know it may be hard, but in the quest to create the perfect bedroom, ban all media. Do your media rituals outside your bedroom, then go about your nightly routine and go to bed in a quite peaceful place. Additionally, the absence of a television and computer will enhance the aesthetics of your room, evoking a more relaxed feeling as well.

Now we hope this can help you on your journey to have the perfect bedroom. Just remember that this place is your own and you should make it your own.  Make it reflect your personal style and just have fun with it! Remember: Peace, Love and Sleep!
